RIPTA To Create New Bus Stop for Elderly Riders
RIPTA will begin a new service after hearing requests from senior citizens in Portsmouth.

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) has decided to create a new bus stop after hearing requests from elderly riders.
Earlier this year, Rep. Daniel P. Reilly (R-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown, Newport) and Senator Christopher Ottiano (R-Dist. 11 Portsmouth,Bristol) spoke with residents at , who told the legislators they wanted RIPTA to offer service in front of the apartment complex.
A bus stop is from the apartment complex, causing some to express safety concerns.

Rep. Reilly and Sen. Ottiano took these comments to RIPTA, who met with Anthony House residents and agreed to start a new service.
The bus service is set to commence on Monday, June 18.

“I want to thank RIPTA for listening to our residents’ wishes,” said Rep. Reilly. “I also want to thank everyone at Anthony House for getting involved and making this happen. Hopefully, this will make peoples’ day-to-day activities just a little bit easier.”

Take any outbound East Main Bus from Providence arriving at the Portsmouth Town Hall Bus stop before noon. (New Bus Stop to be installed on East Main Rd. near Town Hall)

You may take the 10:32am or the 12:50pm Inbound trips from Gateway Center.
These trips will service Anthony House on Middle Rd. at 10:55am & 1:13pm respectively.
TO PROVIDENCE
You may take the 10:32am or the 12:50pm Inbound trips from Gateway Center. These trips will service Anthony House on Middle Rd. at 10:55am & 1:13pm respectively.
FROM PROVIDENCE
You may any outbound Bus from Providence. Bus will drop off at the Portsmouth Town Hall Bus Stop. (New Bus Stop to be installed on East Main Rd. near Town Hall)
