September is Life Insurance Awareness Month

Life insurance is a topic which most people would like to avoid, but in reality, most people need to consider protecting the family in the event of an untimely death of a husband or wife.  Although most Americans agree that it is important to carry a life insurance policy, many people either lack adequate coverage or simply do not have life insurance on themselves. 

Many people have not spoken to a life insurance agent about their financial security.  Some do not believe they can afford it and some think it is pre-mature to talk about death.  Unfortunately, we cannot predict when we will expire, but we can make preparations for the family to continue their lifestyles, in the event that something does happen to us.

Everyday people die of illnesses, health problems, disease, accidents, and murder.  There is terrorism, natural disasters such as storms, and earthquakes, and mass murders.  In this day and age, we are at risk for experiencing any of these things at any time.

Our incomes are important to our loved ones.  They would not be able to continue their lifestyles without it.  Our spouses would have to make adjustments in order to be able to pay the bills and to put food on the table.  The spouse may have to sell the house or take on a second job.  This is precisely what happened to a family which emigrated to the United States.

It is just as important to protect a business because the family will suffer if the business owner dies unexpectedly.  someone will have to continue running the business so that the family can survive.  There must be a plan in place to continue business operations which will be an added expense.

Life insurance will provide the protection that the family needs.  For a very small price, one could purchase a life insurance policy and have peace of mind knowing that the family is protected.  Certain changes in life often trigger the need to purchase life insurance.  They include marriage, the birth of a baby, and the purchase of a home.  These three events require protection of the income in the event of the death of a spouse.  A life insurance agent could assist one in determining how much protection  one would need.

In conclusion, having a life insurance plan to protect the family and a business  in the event of the untimely death of one or both of the parents is wise.
