A Newport boat was found engulfed in flames in Portsmouth early Sunday.
Portsmouth Police Det. Brian Peters told Patch that the 16-foot boat, stolen out of Newport, was found in flames on the Sakonnet River, off Park Avenue, around 5:10 a.m.
Peters said officials aren't yet sure of the cause of the fire. The state's fire marshal is investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
The boat was owned by a Westport, MA, man. Peters said police have been in contact with the owner.
