Driving to Newport or Middletown Today? Watch Out for Race Detours
There will be several road closures during the marathon.
The Amica Marathon will take place in Newport and Middletown on Sunday, Oct. 16.  Nearly 5,000 runners are expected to compete in the event, which features the Amica Marathon and UnitedHealthcare Half Marathon. Both races begin at 8 a.m. at Easton’s Beach.
Residents in the area should be aware that the following road restrictions will be in place for Sunday:
•Memorial Boulevard (eastbound) will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

•Newport roads will be affected from 8 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. These include Annandale Road, Narragansett Avenue, Wellington Avenue, Fort Adams Drive, and Ocean, Bellevue and Ruggles avenues.
•Middletown roads will be affected from 9:20 a.m to 2:30 p.m. These include Purgatory Road, Tuckerman Avenue, Sachuest Point Road, Hanging Rock Road and Indian Avenue.
