Trio Charged in String of Aquidneck Island Thefts

Police say they stole from numerous stores on Aquidneck Island and are looking for more victims.

Tiverton Police arrested three people who stole a slew of items from stores and shops on Aquidneck Island on Thursday.

Police said Paul Costanzo, 51, of Providence; Guy Tortis, 43, of North Providence; and Maria Breggia, 43, also of North Providence, were stopped on Route 24 and officers found $2,400 worth of stolen items in the car.

Police said the items, which consisted of some over the counter medicines, pregnancy and fertility tests, cosmetics and other items, were stolen from across the Island.

Breggia was charged with receiving stolen goods. Tortis was charged with conspiracy and Costanzo was charged with felony receiving stolen goods. Costanzo also had an outstanding arrest warrant out of South Kingstown, police said.
