Two Transported to Hospital After Vehicle Rollover Saturday
A three-vehicle crash shut down a stretch of Turnpike Avenue on Saturday afternoon.

A Portsmouth teen and 55-year-old woman were transported by ambulance to Newport Hospital Saturday after a three-vehicle crash on Turnpike Avenue.Â
say a 2008 Toyota Yaris, operated by a 16-year-old Portsmouth female, was traveling west on Dexter Street, approaching the intersection, around 12:14 p.m. The Toyota apparently drove through the stop sign, entering the travel lane on Turnpike Avenue.Â
A 2011 Nissan Sentra, operated by a 30-year-old Portsmouth female, was traveling north on Turnpike at the time. The Nissan then struck the Toyota, police said.Â

The Toyota then hit a third vehicle, a 2011Â Lexus ES 350 traveling south on Turnpike, operated by a 36-year-old man from Belmont, MA. The Toyota rolled over at this point.Â
Both the 16-year-old teen and a 55-year-old woman, a passenger in the Toyota, were transported by ambulance to Newport Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.Â

The teen also received a traffic citation for failure to show obedience to a stop sign.Â
All the vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. A section of Turnpike Avenue was temporarily blocked to traffic during the response.Â
Several users on Portsmouth Patch's Facebook page commented about this intersection on Saturday.Â
