The basketball game, a tradition for 40 years since the middle school first opened, is held just before the spring vacation to "come together as a community," said teacher Mary Surber.
"We try to hold events like this throughout the year to bring the kids together," Surber said.

The event was also held to celebrate the students' New England Common Asssessment Program (NECAP) scores.
On Friday, the teachers also "dressed down" by wearing jeans as part of a special fundraiser for the school's Caritas, a program founded to help needy families. Teachers donated to the fundraiser and raised $250 on Friday alone.
The school has also raised money for the victims of Japan recently. During the halftime program, student council advisor Rebecca Silveira provided a check to Joan McLaughlin of the American Red Cross. The check, in the amount of $920.05 was from funds collected by the students.
Students competed against faculty members in the basketball game with the teachers winning this year, 44-32.
