Whiz Kids: Robotics Team 'Air Strikes' into First Place, Qualifies for 'World' Championship
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team 78, AIR Strike, placed first among 53 teams at a regional championship held this past weekend in Boston.
This week, we spotlight the Aquidneck Island Robotics 4-H Club, whose members took first place at a regional robotics competition held this past weekend in Boston.
Group: Aquidneck Island Robotics 4-H Club
Accomplisments: This past weekend, the team celebrated after placing first at the Boston Regional Robotics Competition. The team competed as part of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team 78, AIR Strike, which is comprised of 30 high school students from throughout Rhode Island. Team member Michael Violet also won the dean’s list award.
The team has now earned a spot to compete at the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis, MO, from April 28 to 30. More than 350 teams and 20,000 students, mentors, spectators and volunteers will be in attendance.

Key to Awesomeness: Teams are given a new game to play in early January and only six weeks to build a 5-foot-tall, 150-pound robot to complete the game objectives.
