Guilty Plea In Rhode Island Firearm Case
The Dominican National was wearing a ski mask when he ran from police and was caught with a pistol, according to the US. Attorney's Office.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Dominican national pleaded guilty to possessing a pistol as a prohibited person in Providence, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Luis Alberto De Los Santos, 23, faces an April 27 sentencing, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a media release.

De Los Santos is a citizen of the Dominican Republic who entered the country on a travel visa in 2021 and was required to depart the U.S. in 2022, according to the release.

"On April 25, 2025, Providence Police observed De Los Santos with a group of individuals in the Hartford neighborhood," the release said.

"De Los Santos, who was wearing a ski mask, fled from police with the firearm before discarding the weapon behind a building and continuing to flee," according to the release. "Through their investigation, law enforcement discovered the defendant had been in possession of a .22 caliber pistol."
