3 Arrested In Providence Hells Angels Raid

PROVIDENCE, RI — Two more members of the Rhode Island Hells Angels were arrested Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into the notorious motorcycle club. The arrests came after a shooting at group's clubhouse in Providence.

The club's leader, Joseph Lancia, 28, was arrested at the Hells Angels clubhouse in Providence around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday following reports that shots were fired in the area. Lancia was held overnight at state police headquarters and charged with felony assault. On Thursday, he was also charged with discharging a firearm when committing a crime, carrying a pistol without a license or permit and firing in a compact area.

Two other Hells Angels members were arrested on Thursday, Howard J. Pollitt, 45, of King Philip Street in Fall River and Amber E. Gill, 25, of Andem Street in Providence. Both were charged with obstruction and resisting arrest.

According to state police, shots were fired outside the Hells Angels clubhouse on Messer Street in Providence around 10:40 a.m. when someone, believed to be Lancia, fired into the passenger-side window of a car as it drove by. No one was injured. Police later seized three guns and ammunition from inside the clubhouse.

If convicted, Lancia could face up to 20 years in prison for both the felony assault and firearm charges, as well as fines of up to $10,000 for the other charges.
