PROVIDENCE, RI — Two firefighters were evaluated for injuries after battling a Friday morning blaze in Providence.
The three-alarm fire at a multifamily residence on Carpenter near Pallas Street spread to neighboring homes," Kristy dosReis, the chief public information officer for the Providence Department of Public Safety, said in an email.

"At this time, this fire is under control and all known occupants have safely evacuated," dosReis said shortly after 10 a.m.

"The fire ultimately involved three multi-family homes," dosReis said. "The original building collapsed, while the two adjacent homes sustained heavy fire damage."
As many as 10 residents were displaced by the fire, according to dosReis.

"Two firefighters are currently being evaluated for injuries sustained while battling the blaze," dosReis said. "Approximately 67 firefighters responded to the scene."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
