Providence Man Arrested On Gun And Drug Charges: Cops

The Providence man was arrested by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was arrested on gun and drug charges, police said.

Davon Garcia, 21, was arrested about 4 p.m. Wednesday by the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force, the state police said in a media release.

Garcia was charged with possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by certain persons prohibited, large-capacity feeding devices prohibited, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of Percocet with intent to deliver, according to the release.

"The arrest was the result of search warrants executed at the conclusion of a narcotics investigation," the release said.

Garcia was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by a justice of the peace and taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions pending an arraignment, according to the release.
