Pawtucket man charged with driving on a suspended license: Cops (patch.com) — State police say a 29-year-old Pawtucket man was stopped and arrested on Hartford Avenue in Providence for allegedly driving with a suspended license, and is being held as a probation violator pending arraignment. The case highlights ongoing enforcement of traffic and probation conditions affecting drivers moving through Providence streets.
2. Ronald A. Ricci (pvdeye.org) — North Providence residents are mourning Ronald A. Ricci, 79, who died September 3 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. Family and friends can pay respects Thursday, September 10, at Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home on Branch Avenue, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass at Saint Augustine Church on Mount Pleasant Avenue, with burial to follow privately.
3. People on the Move: Kepley Named Communications… (golocalprov.com) — A Providence resident, Nick Kepley, has been hired as communications manager for The Preservation Society of Newport County, putting a local voice at the center of marketing the famous Newport Mansions. With more than 15 years in arts and destination marketing, he'll lead media outreach and branding for Rhode Island's largest cultural organization, potentially boosting tourism and cultural connections that many Providence residents enjoy.
4. Apple Cinemas announces multimillion-dollar overhaul of Providence theater (turnto10.com) — A major entertainment upgrade is coming to Apple Cinemas' Providence theater, with plans for luxury reclining seats, enhanced sound and projection, and a revamped IMAX already in place. The overhaul also adds bowling, interactive attractions, and redesigned bar and lobby spaces, aiming to turn the venue into a full night-out destination for local moviegoers.
5. Oncotarget supports WIN 2026 Symposium advancing precision oncology (eurekalert.org) — Providence will host the WIN 2026 precision oncology symposium at the Rhode Island Convention Center on October 2–3, bringing international cancer researchers and clinicians to the city. Supported by the journal Oncotarget, the event will focus on innovation and equity in personalized cancer care, with keynote talks from leading global oncology figures.
