One would tighten flood-zone building permits with new backflow and groundwater protections, while the other empowers parking enforcement to ticket cars within 20 feet of intersections. 3. NEW: Cicilline-Owned Bar in Providence is Closing (golocalprov.com) — A beloved downtown spot, Clementine on Washington Street across from Trinity Rep, has closed after four years, thanking Providence patrons and hinting something new is coming to the space. The bar, owned by former mayor and congressman David Cicilline, shut its doors Friday as he continues leading the Rhode Island Foundation with a significantly increased salary.

Petition urges Roger Williams Park Zoo to reconsider moving elephant trio (wpri.com) — Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence plans to move its three longtime African elephants to a Tennessee sanctuary in 2027, sparking a petition from hundreds who want them to stay. Zoo leaders say the move will ensure better long-term care as the elephants age, while supporters argue uprooting them from Providence could harm their health and well-being.
