PROVIDENCE, RI — A man was stabbed in the back four times during a Knight Street disturbance, police said.
Shortly after 7:15 p.m. Monday, officers headed to Knight Street near Carpenter Street to investigate the report of the disturbance, Kristy DosReis, the chief public information officer for the Providence Department of Public Safety, said in an email.
"During the incident, a man was stabbed four times in the back and transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was reported to be in critical but stable condition," DosReis said.
"A description of the suspect was broadcast, and a 31-year-old male was taken into custody in the Central Station parking lot without incident," she said.
The matter remains under investigation, according to DosReis.
