MLK Commemoration Event To Be Held In Providence

Governor Gina Raimondo, Senator Jack Reed and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse are set to speak at the event.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Martin Luther King Jr. State Holiday Commission has a full slate of events planned to honor the civil rights leader's legacy on Monday. The commemoration will be held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church at 475 Cranston St. in Providence.

The public is invited to attend the event, which begins at 4 p.m. Commission members, state and local leaders will speak, along with musical performances and the presentation of awards.

Providence Representative Raymond Hull, the chair of the commission, will serve as master of ceremonies. The church's pastor, Reverend Carl H. Balark, Jr., will deliver the invocation.
