Providence To Celebrate New Year's With Ball Drop, Fireworks
"Providence is the place to be on New Year's Eve," said Mayor Jorge Elorza.
PROVIDENCE, RI — For the third year in a row, you can ring in the new year in style in downtown Providence, complete with a ball drop, fireworks and more. Held at Waterplace Park, the celebration is free and open to the public.
"Providence is the place to be on New Year’s Eve," said Mayor Jorge Elorza. "With a ball drop, lasershow and fireworks, the Creative Capital will be bustling with fun activities for all ages to enjoy as we welcome 2020."
The outdoor event will begin at 7 p.m. and have a warming tent to keep attendees toasty. Finance Way will be closed to traffic and filled with a variety of food trucks, and vendors will sell souvenirs and drinks along the Basin.

The celebration will spill over to nearby Skyline at Waterplace, where a ticketed black-tie gala will offer an elegant way to ring in the new year.
"Skyline at Waterplace is once again ready to bring the Time Square of Providence New Year’s event back to our City," said the company's CEO, Michael Mota. "We want to see the City of Providence filled with people excited to bring in the New Year!"

The gala will also begin at 7 p.m. and will include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, desserts, party favors, a cash bar, several live performances, a DJ, and a champagne toast a midnight. Starting at 9 p.m., a rooftop celebration will offer more entertainment, food and a front-row view of the fireworks.
