Providence Man Indicted on Federal Drug Trafficking Charges
Josimar Delacruz-Reyes is accused of attempting to sell nearly 400 grams of fentanyl and heroin.
PROVIDENCE — A federal grand jury Tuesday indicted a Providence man on fentanyl and heroin trafficking charges after he was charged with selling nearly 400 grams of heroin while under surveillance of the Drug Enforcement Agency Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. Josimar Delacruz-Reyes, 31, faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Police say Delacruz-Reyes was arrested on March 18 when he attempted to collect $115,000 for the fentanyl and heroin. Polices seized the drugs. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin.
The DEA Task Force say they monitored Delacruz-Reyes make multiple deliveries of fentanyl in late February in March. He was arrested shortly after the March delivery when he traveled to a nearby coffee shop.

An arraignment date on the indictment has not been scheduled. Delacruz-Reyes has been detained in federal custody since his arrest and initial appearance in federal court in March.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul F. Daly, Jr.

The Rhode Island DEA Drug Task Force and Providence Police Department Narcotics and Organized Crime Bureau assisted in the investigation. The Rhode Island DEA Drug Task includes members of the Rhode Island State Police and East Providence, Central Falls, Coventry, Cranston, Newport, North Kingstown, Pawtucket, Providence, South Kingstown, Warwick, West Warwick and Woonsocket PDs.
