Providence Teen Shoots 'Ghost' Gun Through The Floor Into Neighbor's Apartment: AG

Damien Brousseau's arrest came after his Providence neighbors found bullet holes in the ceiling and bedroom of their home, prosecutors say.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence teen faces charges after firing a "ghost" gun through his bedroom floor and into his neighbor's apartment, Attorney General Peter Neronha said Tuesday.

State prosecutors said the incident happened on Nov. 22, 2012, and resulted in Damien Brousseau, 19, being charged with possession of a ghost gun and firing in a compact area. A ghost gun is an untraceable firearm without a serial number. It's usually bought online and assembled at home.

On Nov. 12, 2022, Providence police were called to a home on Smith Street for a report of shots fired. Two residents who lived on the second floor of the apartment told police they heard a loud bang about three hours earlier.

Initially, the residents brushed it off because their third-floor neighbor, Brousseau, tended to be noisy, prosecutors said. But prosecutors said the tenants later found bullet holes in the ceiling and the floor of a bedroom in their apartment.

Prosecutors said Providence police performed a protective sweep of the third floor and found a Polymer80 9-mm ghost gun pistol in Brousseau's bedroom next to the bullet hole in his floor.

Brousseau is scheduled to appear in Providence County Superior Court for a pre-arraignment conference on Nov. 9.
