RI Man Sentenced For Trafficking 500 Grams Of Fentanyl

Darwin J. Gonzalez Reyes, 36, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling fentanyl and heroin.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday after being convicted of trafficking more than 500 grams of fentanyl and heroin.

Darwin J. Gonzalez Reyes, 36, pleaded guilty in September 2021 to conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl and 100 grams or more of heroin, one count of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and 100 grams or more of heroin and distribution of and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and heroin.

Prosecutors said in June 2019, Reyes delivered 200 grams of fentanyl to a person. Two months later, he delivered 300 grams of fentanyl and 40 grams of heroin to the same person.

Reyes also directed another individual to make both deliveries on his behalf.

In addition to his prison sentence, Reyes will serve five years of supervised release.
