PROVIDENCE, RI — The 16-year-old suspect accused of shooting and killing William Parson, 15 outside Providence Career and Technical Academy Wednesday is expected to be arraigned Friday at Family Court.

Given the age of the suspect, his name has not been released. The suspect was in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to the thigh which police told the Boston Globe was self inflicted. Police said he accidentally shot himself less than a mile from the scene of the crime.

Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements told reporters Parson was shot following a fight outside the vocational high school. Parsons wasn't involved in the fight and was only an innocent bystander.
