Wanted Providence Man Nabbed During Traffic Stop: Cops

The Providence man was wanted on a warrant charging him with failing to appear in court, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A wanted Providence man was apprehended during a traffic stop, police said.

John Cancel, 53, was pulled over on Cranston Street in Providence shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and arrested on a warrant charging him with failing to appear in court for a disorderly conduct case, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

"Cancel was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and later turned over to the Sixth Division District Court," the release said.
