4 Additional Bryant Students Charged In Assault Investigation
Smithfield police said that the investigation is still active and more arrests could be forthcoming.
SMITHFIELD, RI — Four more Bryant University sutdents were charged in connection with a breaking and entering and assault on campus last Sunday. Smithfield police said Jarret Martin, 19, of Franklin, Massachusetts, John Amaya, 20, of Rye, New York, Jack McNeil, 19, Marshfield, Massachusetts and Sarah McBrien, 20, of Scituate, Massachusetts were arrested and charged over the course of the past week.
The arrests all connect to an incident early in the morning of Sunday, April 7, when a group of students broke into a townhouse dorm around 2 a.m. The group assaulted two students then broke a TV and ripped posters off of the walls.
Smithfield police said Martin was arrested on Tuesday and charged with breaking and entering and disorderly conduct. He was released on $1,000 surety bail and is set to appear in court on July 2.

McNeal, McBrien and Amaya were arrested on Wednesday. Amaya and McNeal were charged with breaking and entering, simple assault, disorderly conduct and conspiracy. McBrien was charged with breaking and entering and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $25,000 personal recognizance for for Amaya, who is set to appear in court next on July 3. For McNeil and McBrien, bail was set at $1,000. They are set to appear in court on July 10.
The incident is under review by the university, who said that at this time there is no evidence that the attack was "motivated by bias."

Smithfield Police said the incident is still under investigation and additional arrested could be forthcoming. The Rhode Island Attorney General's office will be included in the investigation.
