Alleged Drunk Driver Crashes Into Tiverton Home

A Somerset woman who was allegedly intoxicated crashed her car into a Tiverton home early Saturday morning, according to .
Heather M. Carey, 24, of 66 Rhode Island Ave., Somerset, MA, was arrested at 6:49 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2389 Main Road, Tiverton. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol (first offense).
Police received a call at 1:42 a.m. of a vehicle that struck a house in the Main Road area, according to Lt. Patrick Jones. When officers arrived on scene, they saw a tan Ford Explorer that crashed into the front of the house, hanging over the porch deck. Due to the extent of the damage, Jones said the operator was trapped inside. The driver, later identified as Heather, had to extricated by the .

"Officers on scene detected a very strong odor of alcohol coming from her," Jones said.
Heather was taken to for observation and received the DUI charge. She reportedly refused to submit a chemical test.
