Alleged Drunk Driver Going Wrong Way, Hits Utility Pole

A Tiverton woman reportedly crashed a pick-up truck into a utility pole last week and received reckless and drunk driving charges from .
Megan Raposa, 33, of 835 Stafford Road, Tiverton, was arrested at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17. Raposa was charged with reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol (first offense).
Lt. Patrick Jones said they received a report of a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident in the area of Rock Avenue and State Street in North Tiverton. He said the responding officer saw a Dodge pick-up truck on the sidewalk with damage on the front end, which police deemed consistent with hitting a utility pole to where the vehicle came to a rest.

Police determined the female driver, later identified as Raposa, showed signs of alcohol intoxication.
"It appears she was having issues with an ex-boyfriend," Jones said, adding that the driver drove the wrong way up Rock Street, a one-way street.

Raposa submitted to several field sobriety tests, which she did not pass, according to Jones, and she also took a chemical test registering at 0.10 and 0.15.
