Alleged Drunk Driver Strikes Parked Car in North Tiverton

charged a woman with drunk driving after she allegedly crashed into a parked car in the north end.

Crystal J. Mendoza, 38, of 55 Bismarck Ave., Tiverton, was arrested at 11 p.m., Sunday, April 15. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, refusal to submit a chemical test and speeding. No one was injured.

According to Chief Thomas Blakey, officers were dispatched to the area of 299 Canonicus Ave. for a report of a car striking the passenger side of a parked car. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman, Mendoza, sitting on the rear bumper of the vehicle with her head in hands crying. She reportedly told police she was coming home to her mother's house on Bismarck Avenue after leaving the  on Shove Street and only had one drink. Blakey said the officers noted Mendoza had slurred speech.

Blakey said officers also spoke with a man, who said he reported the incident. The man alleged he was coming home that night and saw a woman having trouble getting out of her car.
