Alleged Drunk Driver Crashes into Vehicle at Stafford, Hancock Streets

The following arrest was supplied by the Tiverton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Fall River man received drunk driving and other charges from  last week after his car allegedly hit another vehicle head on.

Felipe Palacios, 27, of 676 Plymouth Ave., Fall River, was arrested at 7:28 p.m., Friday, March 16, at the intersection of Stafford and Hancock streets. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol (second offense, BAC of .15 or greater), speeding, passing a vehicle driving in the opposite direction and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

According to Lt. Patrick Jones, Palacios received a small cut near his eye and was transported to the hospital. The victim refused medical treatment.

Police responded to the intersection and found two vehicles in a head-on collision, a green Acura reportedly driven by Palacios and a black GMC Envoy driven by the victim. Jones said officers learned from the victim that Palacios allegedly swerved into the opposite lane.

Police made observations that Palacios was exhibiting signs of alcohol intoxication. He was given several field sobriety tests and was transported to the hospital. He was asked to submit a chemical test at the hospital.
