Aquidneck Island Police Parade to Detour Traffic
Roads around Middletown and Newport will be closed this Sunday during the annual Aquidneck Island Police parade.

Aquideck residents will gather on city streets this Sunday to honor and thank the honors finest at the annual Aquidneck Island Police Parade.
According to the police parade website, the and Fall River police departments will be marching, as well as the , band and Tiverton Youth Soccer.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 11:50 a.m. at 317 West Main Road and travel south onto Broadway, ending at Washington Square. That will mean some traffic restrictions along the parade route. Beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday, West Main Road will be closed to traffic from the intersection with Codington Highway to the intersection with Miantonomi Avenue (One Mile Corner). Traffic restrictions will continue into Newport along the route.

The following detours will be in place throughout the parade:
West side of parade route:
Motorists traveling southbound on West Main Road (Route 114) will be diverted onto Coddington Highway. Motorists traveling eastbound on Coddington Highway will be diverted northbound onto West Main Road.
East side of parade route:
Motorists will be able to travel along the East side of the parade route by using Valley Road.
East Main Road detours
East Main Road will be closed at the intersection with West Main Road (Two Mile Corner). Motorists traveling south on East Main Road will have the option to use Aquidneck Avenue (Route 138A) or Valley Road (Route 214) in order to detour around the parade route. East Main Road will be open to the Two Mile Corner, so businesses along East Main Road will be open to the public.
