The Mayo Clinic recommends 13 cups a day for men and 9 cups a day for women. This can be a combination of fluids: it doesn’t just have to be water (although if you are counting calories water is best). What you eat also counts toward your water intake. Fruits and veggies such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and watermelon are mostly water and will help you stay hydrated.
Remember if you are thirsty you are already dehydrated.
