If you kitten/cat is suddenly urinating outside the litter box it is time to take him/her to the vets for a checkup. Urinating outside the box can be a sign of sickness, infection or many other reasons.
If you get a clean bill of health then its time to take action so the habit can be stopped. First you have to clean all areas wth an enzymatic cleaner like Frizzon or something similar to remove odor and stains. Next you can place a regular litter box (filled with sand) over the area. When the cat goes to urinate it will use the box almost all the time. Gradually move the box by inches to the area where you would like it to be and that should solve the problem. DON'T move the box too much as you might have him/her going back to the orginal spot.
