Cabin Fever Week, Zoo Events and Battleship Cove
Are you ready for school vacation week? Here are some great ways to get your family out of the house and into some fun family time. Read some ideas below so you can spend more time on fun and less time on planning (and spend a little less money too!)
Welcome to this weeks Grab and Go Kids Planner. Do you want to spend some quality time with your family without having to waste time searching for what to do? We've got you covered. We've done the work for you by searching for the best local events for kids and families, usually also with with family-friendly prices!
Here are some ways to get your family out of the house and into some fun family time. Of course, if you have input about these or other family events, we invite you to post your ideas in our comment section below or email the author (posted above).
Since it's school vacation week, we're getting you the list a day earlier to help you plan for the week. We've gathered a great list of inexpensive and free events for this week. If you want to save even more, be sure to check out your local libraries museum passes that you can use to get free or discount admission at some museums.

ANIMAL EXPERIENCES
Where/When: Center Stage at the Swansea Mall, 262 Swansea Drive, Swansea, MA. Feb. 24 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Why Go: Hands-on educational program about a variety of reptiles, amphibians and small mammals
Price: Free (no pre-registration, just show up early to get a seat!)

THE BUTTONWOODS PARK ZOO: CABIN FEVER WEEK
Where/When: Buttonwoods Zoo, 425 Hawthorn St., New Bedford, MA, Feb. 21 to Feb. 25 (times vary).
Why Go: A variety of entertainment all week including the ever popular Toe Jam Puppet Band, Mad Hatter Magic, Sparky’s Puppets, crafts and more.
Price: Special activities are free with the price of admission. Adults $6/Seniors and Teens $4.50/ Child 3-12 $3.00/Children under 3 free

- JAZZ FOR KIDS
Where/When: Greenvale Vineyards, 582 Wapping Rd, Portsmouth, Feb. 24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Live jazz for kids and adults with complimentary refreshments for kids and wine available for purchase
Price: Free admission
- BATTLESHIP COVE: VACATION WEEK
Where/When: Battleship Cove, 5 Water St., Fall River, MA, Feb. 21 to Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Why go: Battleship Cove has special programs & reduced prices during vacation week
Price: Special programs free with paid admission: Adult $12, Children 6-12 $7, Children under five are free. Active duty military with ID is $6 and in uniform is free.
- ROGER WILLIAMS PARK ZOO: POLAR DAYS
Where/When: Roger Williams Park Zoo 1000 Elmwood Ave. Providence, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (last admission is 3:30 p.m.)
Why Go: Half price admission during January and February
Price: $6 for adults, $4 for seniors (62+) and $4 for children (ages 3 to 12).
