Celebrate Dads, Help Big Brothers and Help the Hungry
This weekend have some fun helping those in need and celebrating all dads, too.
Here are some fun and some fatherly free events. For more discounts be sure to check out your local library for museum passes.
- 5 K RUN/WALK TO END HUNGER AND KIDS FUN RUN
Where/When: Colt State Park, Hope St, Bristol, RI June 18, 9:30 a.m.
Why Go: To benefit the East Bay Food Pantry-serving over 3,000 East Bay residents.
Price: Registration Fee: Child for the Kids’ Fun Run is $10, and a child or adult for the 5K Run is $30. Register online or at 8 a.m. the day of the event.
- BIG BROTHERS FATHER’S DAY CONCERT
Where/When: Bryant University 1150 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI June 18. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., concert at 1 p.m.
Why Go: Big Brothers will present a talented group of performers in live concert at Bryant University’s Janikies Auditorium. Headlining the event will be Mr. Deep Positivity a/k/a James McBride, the northeast region’s premier positive rap educator., Miss Rhode Island 2010, Deborah Saint-Vil will be the host for this event. Joining them on stage will be the powerful operatic voice of Frances-Cole Anthony and the thrilling vocals of Danielle Lima.
Price: Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children under 16. Tickets can be purchased by calling Big Brothers of Rhode Island at (401) 432-9955, and they will also be available at the door.
- FATHER’S DAY AT THE ROGER WILLIAMS ZOO
Where/When: Roger Williams Park Zoo 1000 Elmwood Ave, Providence, RI, June 19 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (last admission at 3:30 p.m.)
Why Go: Take dad to the zoo for a relaxing wild adventure!
Price: All fathers will receive free admission to the zoo on Father's Day (when accompanied by a child). It's $6 for adults, $4 for seniors (62+) and $4 for children (ages 3 to 12). - FATHER’S DAY AT THE BUTTONWOOD ZOO
Where/When: Buttonwoods Zoo, 425 Hawthorn St., New Bedford, MA, June 19. The zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy a relaxing day at the zoo with dad.
Price: Special Promotion: Fathers are free with a paying child; Adults are $6, seniors and teens are $4.50, children ages 3 through 12 are $3.00 and children under 3 are free. - FATHER’S DAY AT THE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
Where/When: Providence Children’s Museum, 100 South Street, Providence, RI, June 19, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Why Go: Free admission all day for dads and granddads! Play an active game of Balloon Badminton from Noon - 2 p.m.
Price: Dad’s are free and regular admission is $8.50.
