Coalition Praises Liquor Stores For Combating Underage Drinking
A breakfast was held at Family Ties earlier this week by the Tiverton and Little Compton Prevention Coalition.

The Tiverton and Little Compton Prevention Coalition recognized five area liquor stores this week for complying with ID checks to help combat underage drinking. The stores were honored during a breakfast held at on Tuesday.
According to Rebecca Elwell, prevention coalition coordinator, the stores have a strong record of checking IDs to prevent minors from purchasing alcohol in their establishments.
Owners and managers from , , and Stone Bridges package stores attended the meeting and were acknowledged.

Chief Thomas Blakey attended the breakfast and said those stores demonstrated thorough compliance checks with the police department throughout the year. He noted there have not been any sales to minors discovered through the compliance checks in Tiverton in the past several years.
The coalition thanked Blakey and the package store staffs for their continued cooperation to help provide a community response to underage drinking in both towns.
James Staples, of J.B.S. Professional Services, Boston, showed state of the art identification-checking technology and presented the stores and the police department with the newest hand-held ID checkers.
