Community Festival and Book Fair, Sailing and a Tea Party
Watch Waterfire, ride a sailboat, get a free book, have tea with your American Doll and more.
Here is some family friendly activities. All are fun and several are free!
Where/When: , 100 North Brayton Road, Tiverton, June 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friends of Tiverton Library members get an early bird view of books between 8 and 10 a.m. before the festival is opened to the public.
Why Go: The Friends group is saying this will be its biggest community festival to date. All proceeds to toward funding for Tiverton Library kids, teen and adult summer reading programs.
Price: Members free/non-members $10 for the preview and book sale.- WATERFIRE
Where/When: WaterFire takes place over a one half-mile distance in the river parks lining the three rivers in downtown Providence. Check here for parking and directions. June 3, sunset (around 8:24 p.m.)
Why Go: This award-winning sculpture by Barnaby Evans is installed on the three rivers of downtown Providence. There is often live dancing at the TD Bank Ballroom and an ever-changing, eclectic music and entertainment all along the rivers.
Price: Free Admission - Where/When: 90 Fort Adams Drive, Fort Adams State Park, Newport, RI; June 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Family fun including food, demonstrations, activities, games and tours of Fort Adams
Price: Free admission (some activities entail a fee) - SAIL NEWPORT FAMILY SAILING FESTIVAL
Where/When: Sail Newport, 60 Fort Adams Drive, June 4, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (To find the Alofsin Piers: Enter Fort Adams State Park and follow signs.)
Why Go: Experience sailing onboard Sail Newport's J22 sailboats. All ages are invited. No experience necessary. Sail Newport provides experienced helmsmen to host your on-the-water tour of Brenton Cove and Newport Harbor. Life jackets provided.

Where/When: Swansea Mall, 262 Swansea Mall Drive, Center Court; June 4, 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Why Go: Children ages 5-12 can sign up for the summer reading club and get a free book. Read and track books throughout the summer to get additional free books and opportunities to win prizes.
Price: Free - AMERICAN GIRL DOLL TEA
Where/When: Hearthside House, 677 Great Road, Lincoln, RI two seatings available: at 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Why Go: Girls (age 5-10) can bring their favorite doll along with their moms or grandmas, and gather in this lovely historic setting for a very delightful afternoon of tea, lemonade, elegantly prepared miniature sandwiches and sweets, all served according to proper Victorian etiquette.
Price: Tickets are $18 each, and must be purchased in advance by calling Hearthside at 401-726-0597.
