Copper Wire Thief Turns Himself into Little Compton Police

The following reports were issued by the Little Compton Police Department on Monday, Feb. 14.

Little Compton police arrested a Fall River man Saturday after he turned himself in on charges of breaking and entering and larceny over $500.

Raymond J. Prevost, 18, was arrested at police headquarters at 1:19 a.m. According to Sgt. John Faria, Prevost was arrested for stealing copper wiring and other items from a Little Compton residence within the last week.

Arrests

  • Taylor D. Eddy, 19, of 19 Bay Farm Lane, Little Compton, was arrested at 9:05 p.m. Feb. 8 on the West Main Road town line. According to police, Eddy was stopped for speeding, and as officers approached, they reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. After searching Eddy, police found he was in possession of marijuana. Eddy was charged with possession of marijuana (first offense).
  • Charles F. Sherman, 57, of 57 Francis Lane, Little Compton, was arrested by Little Compton Police at 9:13 p.m. Feb. 12 at his residence. Police responded to 57 Francis Lane for a report of a domestic assault. After speaking with both parties, police discovered the wife has been assaulted by her husband. While attempting to arrest the husband, police said he became combative with officers and after a struggle, he was placed in handcuffs. Sherman was charged with domestic assault and resisting arrest.

  • Police responded to a two-car accident on Long Highway at 11:57 a.m. Feb. 13. The first operator was Helena Brousseau, 91, of 6 Indian Road, Little Compton, and the second operator was Pamela Sorrentino, 56, of Farmington, ME. According to police, Brousseau was backing out of a parking spot and did not see Sorrento. Brousseau backed into the front end of Sorrentino’s vehicle, causing minor damage to both vehicles. No one was injured and both operators left under their own power.

Incidents

  • Police responded to the Commons at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 9 for a report of a missing vehicle. The caller said he thought someone moved his car then stole his keys. Officers found the car and keys and helped the elderly man return home.
  • Police responded to Baileys Ledge at 11:46 p.m. Feb. 11 after a resident approached a police officer on patrol to file a complaint. A man reported his girlfriend’s dog was killed by his neighbor’s dog. Police took the report and the matter remains under investigation.
  • Police responded to William Sisson Road at 8:32 a.m. Feb. 12 for a report of a dispute. Upon arrival, police found the dispute over a horse being removed from a boarding stall and had an outstanding payment. Police kept the peace while the horse was removed.
  • Police responded to Colebrook Road at 5:09 p.m. Feb. 13 for a report of a man being struck by a car. Upon arrival, with rescue already on scene, police discovered that the man in question had slipped on the ice. The man was transported to the hospital.
