She said her father's injuries were severe. On the first night he was brought in, medical personnel discovered intensive bleeding, some broken ribs and lung issues he never recovered from, which kept him on a respirator. They also removed his spleen and part of his pancreas. She noted that he could only whisper to talk.
"He couldn't speak, but when we asked if that's what he wanted, he shook his head 'yes,'" Kieron said when they approached John about taking him off life support. "He faced what was coming with dignity and courage."

Kieron was flanked during the press conference by her boyfriend Joe Kalen.
Det. Brendan McKinnon reiterated that Kieron was stuck by a driver at the intersection of Main Road and Hilton Street heading northbound and left the scene to Fall River. He said a witness came forward to the scene of the accident and talked to rescue personnel and decribed the direction the vehicle went.
McKinnon said that witness has not been identified and police would like her to come forward.
Reached after the press conference, Chief Robert Lloyd said the accident happened right outside his station, and two firefighters heard a "thump" and ran outside and saw Kieron lying in the road.
Anyone who might have information are urged to contact police at 401-625-6716. Police are searching for a vehicle, possibly a light colored four door sedan. The vehicle reportedly sustained damage to the passengers’ side mirror and possibly the passengers’ side.
