Do A Craft, Ride A Train and Look For Birds And Seals
This is no April Fools trick. For this week's Grab and Go Kids Planner here is an April Fools event at the Children's Museum, a bird walk, seal tour, a train trip and a free craft.
We will try not to fool you too much with it being April Fool's Day on Friday, but this week's Grab & Go Kids Planner lists some fun events that may contain some tricks along the way. Jokes aside, there are some fun outdoor events to take a look at.
- APRIL FOOLS! AT PROVIDENCE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM
Where/When: Providence Children's Museum, 100 South Street Providence, RI; 4/1, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Why Go: In honor of April Fools’ day, children hunt high and low for humorous hidden objects and follow a trail to foolish findings all over the Museum!
Price: Program free with $8.50 admission; under 12 months free. FYI: You can get $2.00 off for up to 4 people with a Tiverton library pass. - HOME DEPOT KIDS WORKSHOP
Where/When: Locations in Somerset, North Dartmouth, Middletown and Seekonk. Find a location near you; 4/2 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Why Go: Kids can create a planter/basket. The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety.In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.
Price: Free (FYI: I called the N. Dartmouth location to see if you needed to pre-register and they said to just come in). - MNH BIRD WALK
Where/When: Museum of Natural History 1000 Elmwood Ave, Providence, RI; 4/2 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Why Go: "Join us as we explore Roger Williams Park for winter residents and colorful spring migrants. It's probable that we will see and hear wood ducks, orioles, gnatcatchers, and early spring warblers. We may also encounter some of the other residents of the park such as deer and fisher."

Where/When: 19 Americas Cup Ave, Newport, RI; April 3 Trains depart at 11:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.
Why Go: An 80-minute, scenic 10-mile round trip along the east shore of Narragansett Bay
Price: adults $7.50, children $5.00, seniors $6.00, parlor car $11.00 - SEAL WATCH AND PRUDENCE ISLAND TOUR
Where/When: Narragansett Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Prudence Island ; 9:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Prudence Island ferry leaves from the Church Street Wharf in Bristol, RI at 9:45 a.m. but be there at least 15 minutes earlier More Info about the ferry.
Why Go: Come explore Prudence Island with a chance to see seals at one of the best haul-out spots in Narragansett Bay.
