Driver in Tiverton Verizon Truck Accident Cleared From Hospital

Adam Travers, 33, of 35 Durfee Road, Tiverton arrived home on Friday with only a bruised wrist, according to police Lt. Patrick Jones.
He said the report of an accident came in at 2:51 p.m. last Thursday of a Verizon truck accident with injuries in the area of 525 Main Road. Jones said police responded and the investigating officer observed that Travers was traveling northbound on Main Road, left the lane of travel, mounted the sidewalk, sideswiped a utility pole and collided with a concrete sign abutement at that location, near . Truck compartments, paperwork and other debris scattered the scene.

Chief Robert Lloyd said Travers, the only occupant in the vehicle, was able to remove himself prior to fire and rescue arriving. He was assessed and transported to the trauma center at Rhode Island Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Lloyd added that the building inspector examined the condition of the sign and determined its concrete base is secure and did not pose a hazard.
