Elderly Couple Unhurt In One-Car Accident on Lewis Street
An elderly couple was in a one-car accident at the intersection of Lewis and Lowell streets in North Tiverton Monday morning.
Two elderly Lewis Street residents walked away uninjured Monday after striking a telephone pole at the intersection of Lewis and Lowell streets.
Tiverton , and emergency dispatch responded to the intersection in North Tiverton at approximately 11:13 a.m. for reports of a one-car accident.
According to officials, the pair's gray Mercury Grand Marquis struck a telephone pole at the intersection, then came to a rest after striking a white gate to an abutting property. The passenger side rear door was smashed up.

According to Fire Lt. Bruce Reimels, the elderly couple was uninjured in the accident and did not require medical attention. They were led back to their home while a tow truck came to move the vehicle.
A cause for the accident has not been determined. The damage to the telephone pole was minimal.
