I love working on training programs for my clients however there are some days I just can’t seem to think of what I want to do for myself. This happened to me Friday morning and then I checked my Twitter feed. There was a very simple WOD by @fit_motivator. See picture "Original WOD"
The WOD called for three rounds and for my fog filled brain I thought this would be a perfect quick simple workout. Until I got through the first round…then apparently I woke up and the next round I modified like this: See picture "WOD Modification #1"
Last round looked like this: See picture "WOD Modification 2#"
I wanted to modify the jump jacks and there are lots of things you could do but I ended up doing good old-fashioned jumping jacks for all three rounds. I did discover that a 60 wall sit was actually an awesome recovery exercise from all the jumping around. (Who would have thought I would be looking forward on about jumping jack 50 to a wall sit….)
There are always ways to modify an exercise routine to mix things up and keep it fresh. Next time I do this I probably won’t do it this way but instead come up with something totally different using those six basic exercises.

Ok your turn. How would you modify the basic WOD? Leave a comment below!
