Fall River Man Arrested After Police Find Gun, Knives During Traffic Stop

A 33-year-old Fall River man is facing two felony weapons charges after police found a gun, marijuana and three large knives during a Dec. 12 traffic stop.

Tiverton police stopped Dean C. Hillman's vehicle on Stafford Road just before 5 p.m. because of a non-functioning headlight. As police approached the car they noticed his inspection was expired and allegedly detected a smell of marijuana coming from the car. Police requested Hillman exit the vehicle so police could conduct a search.

As Hillman, of 16 Margaret Court, Fall River, exited the car, he informed police he was carrying a loaded Glock 26 9mm pistol. The gun was concealed in a belt. 

A further search revealed:

• Three knives with blades over three inches.
• Five grams of marijuana.
• Five Rhode Island license plates.
• A Glock magazine containing nine rounds.
• One .223 assault rifle round.
• Metal grinder.

Hillman was arrested, held overnight and arraigned the next day in Second Division District Court. He was released on $5,000 bail with surety
