Tiverton Police Arrest Fall River Man on Drug, Assault Charges

Tiverton Police stopped Kevin M. Baker, 31, of Fall River, MA, on June 22 after an officer allegedly saw him driving without a seat belt or valid inspection sticker on Conanicus Street.

An officer stopped Baker around 6:53 p.m. and during a subsequent computer check found that Baker was wanted on a warrant affadavit by Warwick Police as well as by Tiverton Police for a domestic assault that ocurred on June 6.

"After he was stopped a driver check found that Mr. Baker had two active warrants in Tiverton and Warwick," said Lt. Patrick Jones. "The officer took him into custody and while conducting an inventory search of the vehicle inside Mr. Baker's wallet what he found was an amount of heroine."

The drugs reportedly later tested positive for heroine at police headquarters on Industrial Way.

Baker was charged with domestic assault, possession of a controlled substance, operating a vehicle without wearing a seat belt, driving in possession of a controlled substance and operating without an inspection sticker. He was arraigned and transferred to Warwick Police for arraignment on charges out of its department.
