Man Charged With Breaking Into Girlfriend's Apartment in Tiverton

charged a Fall River man with breaking and entering into his girlfriend's apartment last week.
Felix Cortez, 24, of 611 Chicago St., Fall River, was arrested at 10:55 a.m.Sunday, Jan. 8, at a State Avenue residence. Cortez was charged with one count of felony domestic breaking and entering into a dwelling without consent, domestic vandalism, domestic disorderly conduct and obstruction of a police officer.
Lt. Patrick Jones said police received a report on Jan. 8 that Cortez had gone to his girlfriend's apartment in Tiverton and forced entry by kicking in the door. The girlfriend reportedly told police that she'd gotten into a dispute with Cortez two days earlier on Friday, Jan. 6, but that he left before police arrived.

Lt Jones said that later in the day on Jan. 8, police were called back to the residence to find Cortez at the apartment. At that time, he allegedly attempted to mislead police by giving officers a false name. His real identity was later recovered during the arrest.
