Family Fun Friday and Saturday Nature Walks
Enjoy a nature walk at South Shore Beach, drumming at Blithewold and movies and art activities in Newport.

Families can exercise their mind, body and creative spirit this week.
- SATURDAY NATURE WALKS
Where/When: Meet at the east end of South Shore Beach, Little Compton, Aug. 27, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Why Go: Take a guided stroll along one of Rhode Island’s most magnificent coastlines. Explore nesting shorebirds and the ecology of Goosewing Beach Preserve. Discover new things and ask lots of questions! We will end with a visit to the Benjamin Family Environmental Center.

Where/When: Quarry Meadow, Ballard State Park, Aug. 10 at dusk
Why Go: Movies will be shown in the Quarry Meadow. Seating is on the grass. films will begin at dusk. Picnic dinners welcome. Parking available in the Rogers High School parking lot.
Price: Free - FAMILY FUN FRIDAY: CAPE COD AFRICAN DRUM AND DANCE
Where/When: Blithewold Mansion, 101 Ferry Road, Bristol, on Aug. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why Go: Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the show! Activities will include a live performance from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a craft project, face painting and games from noon to 1 p.m. rain or shine.
Price: Adults $10/Seniors $8/College students $8/Kids ages 6-17, $2. You can pre-register. Tiverton library also has a museum pass that admits up to 2 adults and 6 children under 18 for free. - Where/When: Casino Theatre, 9 Freebody Street, Newport, Aug. 27, 4 p.m.
Why Go: newportFILM Kids is screening "Chandani: The Daughter of the Elephant Whisperer" This amazing film is appropriate for children ages 8+. The Farmer's Cow will be handing out treats for the kids!
Price: Cost: $5 kids/$10 adults - MUSEUM EXPLORERS
Where/When: Newport Art Museum, 76 Bellevue Ave., Aug. 27 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Why Go: Family tour and art-making activity.
