Fogland Beach Sets the Scene For 'Moonrise Kingdom' Shoot

Town Administrator James Goncalo announced last week that Fogland Beach will have a one-day movie shoot in June for a Hollywood romantic drama.

A one-day shoot for a romantic drama film will be take place mid-June on Fogland Beach, according to Town Administrator James Goncalo, after speaking recently with the Hollywood producers.

The film “Moonrise Kingdom,” set to debut in 2012 according to The Internet Movie Database, will have a one-day shoot sometime in June at a private home at the end of Fogland Beach, he said. It is slated to star Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Ed Norton, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand and Jason Swartzman.

“We don’t want to give the exact date to interfere with the shooting process,” Goncalo said last Thursday.

He added that the Fogland Beach Oversight Committee and the Recreation Commission both gave approvals for the shoot.

Goncalo added that the last film he recalls being shot in Tiverton was "Evening" in 2007, a romantic drama starring Meryl Streep. It was shot at a home on Highland Road.
