Where/When: Fisherman's Pier & Merrill's Wharf New Bedford, MA, Sept. 24, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sept. 25, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Celebrate the commercial fishing industry and by learning about the industry and its culture. Enjoy performers, food and activities (including children’s activities).

NEWPORT ART FESTIVAL
Where/When: Newport Yachting Center, 4 Commercial Wharf, Newport, Sept. 24, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sept. 25, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Art, music, children’s entertainment and food. Event to benefit Looking Upward. (This event was rescheduled due to Hurricane Irene.)
Price: $8/adult, and children under 12 are free.
45TH ANNUAL HERITAGE DAY FESTIVAL AND RI NATIONAL GUARD CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY
Where/When: Roger Willams Memorial Park, North Main Street, Providence, Sept. 24, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a rain date of Sept. 25.
Why Go: Travel around the world in a day. Enjoy more than 15 countries celebrating with art, music, dance, food and cultural displays.

STORYTIME REGISTRATION
Where/When: Tiverton Essex Public Library, 238 Highland Road, Tiverton. Registration is from Sept. 26 to Oct. 1.
Why Go: Toddler and pre-school registration begins Sept. 26. This may be done online, by telephone at 401-625-6796 ext. 14 or in person at Essex Public Library. Also mark your calendars for Brownell Library story hours.
