Frugal Family: Dive Into Providence's Arts Scene For Free
This week's Frugal Family shares another coupon website, discounts for a culinary museum, an easy way to manage the things you need every day and details about this month's Gallery Night Providence.
After last week’s Frugal Family, I received an email from another coupon website, CouponConnector. It has online coupons, discount codes, free shipping codes and special offers from popular online stores in an easy-to-find format. They have over 3,000 Facebook fans, so I guess they are doing something right! With a quick glance through the different tabs, it seems like a pretty comprehensive collection of offers. What I think would be the most helpful is the grocery coupon list, an easy to find out way if there is a coupon out there for something that is already on sale.
Another email I received was from a friend of mine reminding me of something she takes advantage of: Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program. The quick version is you schedule delivery of products on a time line that is comfortable for you, such as once a month or as long as every six months, and the order is automatically sent and charged to your credit card at the time of delivery. In addition to the convenience, you receive a 15 percent discount on the order and free shipping. The list of items is extensive, from food to diapers to paper towels. There is no fee associated with this program.
Johnson & Wales Culinary Arts Museum
Open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on major holidays. They have a wide variety of culinary historical pieces, including over 60,000 cookbooks, a diner exhibit complete with the neon flashing signs, historical wedding cakes and bread sculptures.
Cost: Adults: $7; seniors, 62 or over: $6; college students with a valid ID: $4; Children, ages 5 to 18: $2; under 5 years old: free.

Gallery Night Providence
On the third Thursday of every month from March to November (tomorrow May 19!) you can go to visit 21 of Providence’s galleries for free. You can park for free and either meander your way from gallery to gallery or you can jump aboard the art bus for a themed tour of four of the galleries. You could also take part in the celebrity tour, led this month by Artist & Arts Administrator Francoise McAree and Artist & Hive Archive Director Alyssa Holland Short. There are also bike tours, led this month by photographer Peter Goldberg and musician, artist and Southside Community Land Trust Director of Development Susan Sakash.
