Frugal Family: Stay Local at Earl's Service Station, A1 Pizza & the Brownell Library

Six deals this week for movie passes, circus tickets and vitamins to keep you healthy through the rest of the winter!

1. With gas prices being so high, why not spend your weekend in, in-town that is. offers “gas at the lowest price in town”. But they also have essentials like bread & milk and a good selection of movies. Get a movie, pick up dinner right around the corner at A-1 Pizza, and you have all the makings a great family night, without having to drive out of town.
Good through: As long as we patron our local businesses and support our neighbors they will be able to offer us these important services right here in town.

2. Want to go to the movie theater?  
Deal: Bargain Tuesdays in select National Amusement theatres. All Seating, All Shows, Every Tuesday! $6.00
Bargain Tuesdays includes IMAX, IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and Directors Halls. Local theaters include Providence Place Cinemas and in Seekonk.

3. Not only is the close by in Little Compton, saving you on gas again, they have has a long list of activities (in addition to their museum passes mentioned in a past frugal family, found ) for FREE!
Mondays are for knitting from 1 to 2 p.m. for adults and 3 to 4 p.m. for grades 5 and up. Adults are welcome then too.
They have three story hours: Toddlers Tuesdays at 11 a.m., preschool on Thursdays at 11 a.m. and grades 1 thought 4 after school on Mondays from 3 to 4 p.m.
On Saturday mornings, children ages 5 to 10 are welcome for crafts, 10:30 to 11:30a.m.
Special event for St. Patrick’s Day- Saturday March 19th Celtic Music with Mary King. 10:30 a.m. learn Irish step dancing, 11 a.m. the music begins. All ages welcome.

4. The circus is coming!!

6. Did anyone try the home made laundry detergent we discussed ? Maybe you bought the “ingredients” but haven’t gotten around to it yet? I have a way you can start using those same ingredients right now with a very simple recipe for dishwasher detergent. Mix together ½ cup borax, ½ cup washing soda and ¼ cup kosher salt. Use 1 tbsp in each of the rinse compartments of the dishwasher.  Another great tip- the rinse aid can be replaced with vinegar, eliminating another set of chemicals from your home.
