'Gansett Grays Little Compton Lacrosse Player Heading To New England Finals
Playing Saturday at Brown University against regional powerhouse Bellerica.

The ‘Gansett Grays, Rhode Island’s only over-40 men’s lacrosse team, has scored a berth in the championship game of the Olde New England Lacrosse League (ONELL) and will compete for the ONELL title on Saturday morning, Sept. 3, at 11:15 a.m. at Brown University’s Meister-Kavan Field on Cushing Street in Providence.
Standout player Mark Chafee, of Little Compton, helped the Grays win their berth by upsetting the #2 seed Woburn Bald Eagles in an 8 to 7 comeback victory in the semi-finals held last week. The team finished their regular schedule with a 6-2 record and will be facing current champs and perennial powerhouse, the Billerica Fakawee.
The Grays are a team of passionate high school, collegiate and club lacrosse players whose competitive spirit and love for the game hasn’t diminished with age.

“Although we’ve all remained active since college, some of us haven’t picked up a stick in 20plsy years," said teammate Steve Danyla. "Given the opportunity to get back on the field again, we have so much more appreciation for the game and for being part of this team,”
