Here are some family events this weekend. Some are free and all are fun!
37TH ANNUAL HARVEST FAIR
Where/When: Norman Bird Sanctuary, 583 Third Beach Road, Middletown, Oct. 1 to Oct. 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: An old-fashioned autumn Fair with crafters, food, games, animals, hay rides, mud pit and more!
Price: Adults are $6, children ages 3 to 12 are $3 and children under 3 are free.
STOP AND SHOP HARVESTFEST WATERFRONT BLOCK PARTY
Where/When: Newport Yachting Center, 4 Commercial Wharf, Newport, Oct. 1, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Oct. 2, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: It's Festival Fete's Newport debut, with locally grown art, food and dozens of artisans. There's strolling and interactive entertainment, a farmers' market, sampling and culinary demonstrations, boardwalk amusements, bumper boats, games, free harbor cruises and lively fun for kids and adults alike.
Price: Tickets are $10 and children under 12 are free with an adult. Discount tickets are available through Stop & Shop partners.

CITIZENS BANK FOUNDATION FREE FAMILY DAY
Where/When: Audubon Environmental Education Center, 1401 Hope Street, Bristol, Oct. 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Thanks to the Citizens Bank Foundation, the Environmental Education Center is open free to the public the first Saturday of every month. Join them for crafts, nature stories, animal discoveries, hikes and more.
Price: Free. No registration is necessary.
FREE HOME DEPOT PROJECT: FIRE RESCUE HELICOPTER
Where/When: Home Depot Locations in Somerset, North Dartmouth, Middletown and Seekonk. Find a location near you. It's on Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Why Go: The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children. Also, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.
Price: Free for ages 5-12. No pre-registration is required.

A.C. MOORE ANNIVERSARY EVENT
Where/When: A.C. Moore 494 State Road, North Dartmouth, MA, Oct. 1, 1 to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Free "make and takes" and a cupcake decorating and doodle Yarn Monster. Enter to win prizes from 1 to 4 p.m.
